SMTP session monitoring on Plesk 9 with Qmail

This command is usefull when you try to see how many smtp sessions and who is connected in Plesk 9 using Qmail.

cat /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog |grep -I smtp_auth |grep -I user |awk '{print $11}' |sort |uniq -c |sort -n

You can cut this sentence to obtain more detailed information. The result of this command is the number of active smtp connections.

Mail Queue on Plesk 9 using Qmail or Postfix

Plesk 9 has a built-in tool to manage the mail queues for Qmail and Postfix.

/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/mailqueuemng --help
qmHandle v1.2.0
Copyright 1998-2003 Michele Beltrame

Available parameters:
-a : try to send queued messages now (qmail must be running)
-l : list message queues
-L : list local message queue
-R : list remote message queue
-T : list todo message queue
-s : show some statistics
-mN : display message number N
-dN : delete message number N
-Stext : delete all messages that have/contain text as Subject
-D : delete all messages in the queue (local and remote)
-V : print program version

Additional (optional) parameters:
-c : display colored output
-N : list message numbers only
(to be used either with -l, -L, -R or -T)

You can view/delete multiple message i.e. -d123 -v456 -d567

Rebuild the Qmail structure in Plesk 9

This command rebuild the Qmail configuration on Plesk 9. This is very usefull when the things begin to go bad….

/usr/local/psa/var/log# /opt/psa/admin/sbin/mchk --help
Restore settings for all mailboxes.
Usage: /opt/psa/admin/sbin/mchk [OPTION]

OPTIONS:
--without-spam restore all settings except for SpamAssassin configuration
--with-spam restore all settings
--spam-only restore only SpamAssassin settings
